According to The Sun, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s move to LA Galaxy has freed up more funds for United and De Gea will be offered a £350,000-a-week deal.
Ibrahimovic was on wages of around £125,000-a-week at Old Trafford and the Swede took a 95 per cent pay cut to join LA Galaxy.
The Red Devils are convinced that De Gea will commit his future to the club before the World Cup and negotiations are set to resume later this month.
A United insider told The Sun: ‘The club want it sorted. It has to be done in their eyes.
‘They want David to go to the World Cup and come back knowing everything is settled.
‘Zlatan leaving has freed up more wiggle room on wages and United don’t want to drag it out.
‘They want to show the world that David won’t be leaving for anywhere. It’s a real statement.’
